Engineered Quilt by request

My sister says that I didn't blog about this engineered quilt.  So here goes.  I started out by making a nine-patch block tutorial for my mom's quilting group.  When my DH saw it the engineer brain kicked in and he suggested I do more blocks with more cuts....so I started with 5 in squares of fabric.

With his suggestions that sixteen square block was recut into a nine patch.  Then I manipulated the squares by just spinning them in their places.  Interesting...

I finished it by machine quilting each 17 1/2" block separately and then joining them with a 1/2" wide sashing hand finished on the back.  This was finished in January of 2011 so sort of old news but apparently I hadn't blogged about it before on this site.

Peggy's new lounge outfit

My friend Peggy was over and she just received this beautiful lounging dress from her friend who had just returned from Jamaica.  Isn't it wonderful?

Don't do this...

Sigh, for some reason I got all busy with this block and sewed two of them together --well, wrong, or wrong for this quilt....

Then I sat down with my Lee Valley stitch rippers for a few minutes and - voila.

So most of a day later I am back to completing two blocks.  It was actually less bothersome than I thought it would be.

Ahhhh, that's better....

My sister's new phone cover

This turned out really well I think.  I followed the tutorial from Fairy Face Designs.  The back is cute too.

My sister says she is happy with it and that is what counts in the end.

Crafty Girl

So here she is with her new easter Mr Potato Head.  So cute.  She had to instantly take the pink tissue paper and make a dress for her new doll.  Success I think.

My Purse within My Purse

This is the problem.

I am a bit of a purse-a-holic and I like to change which one I am carrying at a moments notice.  The problem is all the stuff that hangs around at the bottom of my bag.  So here is my solution.
I used that super heavy interfacing that is iron-on on both sides for the centre velcro pocket and added the divided pockets to the outside of the 'bag' so everything is accessible.  I will try is this weekend and see how it goes.

Now I can slip my real wallet and this mini purse from one bag to the other quickly and easily.

My Grandsons not so new shirt

This is a shirt I made for my grandson who doesn't like buttons.  It has snaps instead. He still doesn't like it much but....
